Our shop offers Massachusetts Vehicle Checks on all commercial and non-commercial automobiles, light trucks, heavy trucks, and trailers. There are two parts to the inspection, emissions and safety, and both play a pivotal role in reducing air pollution and keeping our roads safe. If your vehicle fails its safety inspection or emissions test, it must be repaired and pass a re-test within 60 days of its initial inspection in order to get a free re-inspect. If failed for safety, it is technically illegal to operate your vehicle before fixing any safety defects identified during inspection, unless you are going home or to a repair facility. If failed for emissions, it is best to get these repairs addressed as soon as possible, as emissions control problems can significantly reduce gas mileage and may cause long-term damage to your vehicle, which may make repairs more expensive.
When shopping for a reliable technician to fix your vehicle, make sure the repair shop has experience working on your type of car. Look for shops that have certifications such as the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Seal. 1812 Paint & Body is a facility that does Emissions repairs and is certified by the state of Massachusetts as well as ASE.
